Membership of AfroAgEng is open to all engineers and other professionals interested in the discipline and practice of engineering in agriculture, food, environment and other industries. This includes scientists, academics, researchers, industry practitioners (input suppliers, farmers, postharvest operators, processors, and manufacturers), consultants, policy experts and students.
Formal qualification in agricultural engineering or any other academic discipline is not required and we welcome international membership.


Membership categories include:

  • Student membership – annual membership fee of USD 25 up to a maximum of 5 years. Application and annual payment must be supported by the Head of Department, with evidence of student’s current registration attached.
  • Corporate membership – annual membership fee of USD 250. These are affiliated academic, research and commercial organisations which support the mission and objectives of AfroAgEng.
  • Individual membership – annual membership fee of USD 50.
  • Life membership – once-off membership fee of USD 500.
  • Fellows - individual and life members may become Fellows of AfroAgEng following a nomination process (membership fee remains the same).



In addition to contributing to fulfilling the objectives of AfroAgEng as outlined in the Aims, the following are additional benefits of belonging to the Society:

  • Giving something back to our profession by sharing expertise and mentoring young professionals.
  • Automatic membership of the CIGR.
  • Reduced conference registration fees.
  • News on calls for research proposals, training opportunities and events.
  • Opportunities to represent at a Continental level.
